1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how CollegeVerdict ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website and report tool (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you have questions at any point, jump to Contact us — we're happy to explain anything in plain terms.

2. What information we collect

CategoryExamples
Application content you submitGPA, test scores, course rigor, extracurricular activities, honors, essay drafts or themes, intended major, school list preferences.
Contact & identity infoName (if provided), email address (for report access or receipts).
Payment infoHandled entirely by Stripe — see Payment data below.
Usage & device dataPages visited, report link accessed, browser type, approximate location (from IP), timestamps — collected via analytics (e.g., Google Analytics).

3. How we use your information

We do not use your application content for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

4. AI processing & third-party model providers

To generate your report, the details you submit are sent to a third-party AI model provider for analysis. That provider processes the data to return the scores and written feedback that make up your report, under its own data-processing terms with us.

What this means in practice: your application content is used to generate your report and is not knowingly used by us to train public, general-purpose AI models on your specific, identifiable submission.

5. Payment data

All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. When you check out, your card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure, encrypted checkout — they pass through Stripe's systems, not ours. We only receive confirmation that payment succeeded, along with limited transaction metadata (amount, date, report ID) needed to unlock your report and issue a receipt.

6. When we share information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your application content with colleges, universities, or admissions offices.

7. How we protect your data

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we design the Service to minimize risk at every step.

8. Data retention

We retain your report and associated application content for as long as needed to provide the Service (so your report link keeps working), or until you request deletion. Payment transaction records may be retained longer where required for accounting, tax, or legal compliance.

9. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at mycollegeverdict@gmail.com with your report link or the email address used at checkout, and we will respond within a reasonable time (generally 30 days or as required by applicable law, such as GDPR or CCPA/CPRA).

10. Cookies & analytics

We use standard analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) with cookies or similar technologies to understand aggregate usage of the Service and improve it. These tools do not receive your application content. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for use by high school students applying to college, typically ages 14–19, generally with the awareness of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information without consent, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
