Terms of Service
Effective date: May 2026 · Last updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using CollegeVerdict (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a minor (for example, a parent helping a student applicant), you confirm you have the authority to accept these Terms on their behalf and to consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.
2. What CollegeVerdict does
CollegeVerdict provides an automated, AI-assisted evaluation of college application materials that you submit, including an overall score, category breakdowns, and (for unlocked reports) an expanded analysis covering admissions strategy, essay suggestions, extracurricular framing, and school recommendations.
The Service is intended to be a supplementary planning tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for any college, university, admissions office, the Common Application, or a licensed college counselor.
3. Accounts & report links
CollegeVerdict does not require account creation. Instead, each report is accessible through a unique UUID link tied to a report ID. You are responsible for keeping this link private, since anyone with access to it can view your report. If you believe a report link has been shared or exposed without your consent, contact us and we will help you secure or delete it.
4. Payment, refunds & billing
Certain features (the full unlocked report) require a one-time payment. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; CollegeVerdict does not store your full card number, CVC, or other full payment card details on its own servers.
- Unlocking a report grants permanent access to that specific report's full content.
- Prices are shown in USD at checkout and may change at any time for future purchases; changes do not affect reports you've already unlocked.
- Refunds: All sales are final except where required by law.
5. Your content & our license to use it
You retain ownership of the application materials, essays, activity descriptions, and other information you submit ("Your Content"). By submitting Your Content, you grant CollegeVerdict a limited license to process it — including sending it to third-party AI providers — solely for the purpose of generating your report and improving the Service's underlying models and prompts in de-identified or aggregated form.
We do not sell Your Content, and we do not knowingly share it with colleges, universities, or admissions offices.
6. AI-generated analysis & accuracy disclaimer
Important: Scores, feedback, and recommendations are generated by an AI model and are estimates only. They are not a prediction of your actual admissions outcome and should not be treated as professional admissions counseling, legal, or educational advice.
Admissions decisions depend on factors no tool can fully see or model — institutional priorities, applicant pool composition in a given year, recommendation letters, interviews, and more. Use CollegeVerdict's output as one input among many, not as a final word on your chances.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit another person's private application materials without their consent;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service or its underlying AI systems;
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to generate misleading application content intended to misrepresent facts to an institution;
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute reports generated by the Service without our written permission.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, scoring methodology, software, and branding, is owned by CollegeVerdict and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your report is provided to you for personal use in your own college application process.
9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CollegeVerdict and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including admissions outcomes, lost opportunities, or emotional distress — arising from your use of the Service.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms. You may stop using the Service, and request deletion of your data, at any time (see our Privacy Policy for how).
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
